Rant & Rave

I don’t get it—South Georgia Medical Center boasts how they have improved their emergency room services, however they don’t care patients are being left with large outstanding bills due to the new physician staff they hired is not in network with local business insurances (Blue Cross Blue Shield and First Health Network). I pay premiums on two insurances and still have a balance.

I want to thank John at Chick-Fil-A for changing my tire. My husband was out of town and I had no idea what I was going to do. John was courteous and more than willing to help someone in need. Thank you Chick-Fil-A for hiring reasonable, caring employees who go beyond the call of duty.

The problem with the dog park is that it is not a necessity. During tough economic times you should forgo the wants and concentrate on the needs. If we can’t afford to fix our roads then how can we afford to build a dog park? That would be like me not paying my light bill in order to go on vacation. Common Sense.

I hope the city will generate revenue from the dog park. There should be a concession stand full of doggy treats as well as human treats.Dog owners should have to pay a yearly membership to pay for all the necessary maintenance as well. Good Grief.

What is so horrible about a dog park? How miserable a person do you have to be to pick on a dog park? Just because it doesn’t cater to your specific needs doesn’t mean lots of other people (and their four-legged friends) won’t enjoy it. It’s time this town spent money on something non-football related. Grow up people, there are far worse things than dog parks.

The expansion of Freedom Park including a dog park, has finally been approved. I know that Mayor Fretti commented that a $1.1 million dog park is a lot of money for a dog park; but there is absolutely nothing or nowhere to take your dogs in this town for an off-leash romp (which would do wonders for a lot of dogs in this town.) $1.1 million is a small price for taxpayers (that’s us) to pay for the happiness of their pooches. I cannot wait for the opening.

Zombieland? It’s not a movie, it’s real life. The zombies are gonna get ‘em a dog park. Congratulations.

Shame to the lady in Harvey’s on Bemiss Road today, for walking away, after your son pulled his pants down, and took a poop in front of the pharmacy. Don’t you think you should help cleaning your son’s mess up and not just walk away? Nice parenting skills.

I, too, recently tried to use my personal laptop while a patient at SGMC and was blocked from MySpace. Had no problem getting on Facebook but MySpace came up and said it was blocked due to “adult content.”

I keep my dogs in my back yard. You should do the same. Valdosta does not need a dog park.

Let’s start a revolution. No more pulling up at the drive-thru. If you can get my order done quickly and correctly, get rid of the drive-thru.

Good for Mayor Fretti. He is standing up to the NRA. He’s not standing up to hunters. He is standing up to guns these thugs have. Now if he can get Mediacom straight, we all will be happy.

To the person who says a dog doesn’t know the difference between a park and a back yard must never have owned a dog. When I get in my car to go somewhere, my dog is very excited. When I take him out of the back yard which is fenced in, and take him to the front yard, he is very happy. They are smarter than you think.

I would like to know why SGMC blocks MySpace for their patients. I can understand if they don’t want their employees wasting company time on MySpace, that’s fine, just block hospital computers. Recently, when a family member had a baby and tried to post pictures on MySpace from their personal laptop they found the entire site to be blocked.

To the person who likes to jaywalk in Valdosta and not use the crosswalks. If you would pay as much attention at intersections or crosswalks, you would be a lot safer. Most of the time you are too busy with a phone on your ear or texting. I use the crosswalks and have never had any trouble.

Jaywalking at VSU has always been the safest option. People don’t look when turning left or right at an intersection and they don’t stop for crosswalks. I’ve never had a problem jaywalking, but there are countless times I’ve almost been hit in the crosswalks.

To all the teachers fussing and crying about three days, How about I take your three days and you can take my three weeks that my job has forced me to take. But you have to work all year like I do and I get your summer to go on vacations.

To the person who wants to close the bars in Valdosta, are you that preacher from ‘Footloose’?

I’m glad to see that someone’s wife can cook. I’ve been married for 23 years and have yet to have a decent meal.

Want to deter crime? Start carrying a gun. Depend on yourself and stop waiting on someone else to fix your community’s problem.

To the lady driving the Prius hybrid that threw the cigarette butt out her window — thanks for caring so much about our environment.
