Update: We raised the money for JoJo’s heartworm treatment. She has completed her treatment and is now heartworm negative. She has been rehabilitated and acts like a completely different dog. We’ve found her a great home and she is loving it.

Below is the original post:

Hi, my name is JoJo. I was abused and neglected by my previous owner.
I was left out in the yard with no food or water. The police saved me.

They found me a new home in a small shelter.

I lived in a cage here for over eight months. My cage was the last one on the right.

Unfortunately, my story does not end there.
I recently found out I have heartworms.
They are killing me…
You can save my life…

Valdosta State University – UNIX passwd

I was recently looking back at all my school work as a Computer Science student at Valdosta State University. While I was enrolled I took a UNIX course. In the class we often used the system’s passwd file in our examples. At the time the passwd file contained 20,346 accounts! When I first saw the file I said something about it being a security risk and I was told, no it wasn’t because the passwords are encrypted. In a short amount of time I was able to crack 12,437 passwords (including my own), leaving only 7,909. I was surprised to find a large amount of accounts with “NO PASSWORD”. I did bring this to the attention of the UNIX System Administrator also, but he didn’t seem to think it was a security risk either.

Note: This was just class work as a student. I did not access any accounts other than my own. I did not release the passwd file in any form, encrypted or cracked. VSU, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
