PS - to my orig. post - I was troubled by one thing - Perfect Pets insisted that these animals should NOT be shipped by air =- that it would be far too traumatic for them. I wondered if it was a ploy to get you to buy NOW and not go home and change your mind. But, After seeing these tiny babies and doing hours of research - I completely agree. They must have constant temperatures and you do NOT get that in the belly of an airplane. I think it's the "MILLS" that are assuring us it's OK to ship these very tiny, delicate babies by air. I'm sure most survive, but it surely can't be good for them. Coming directly home with you in a pouch around your neck and being constantly comforted along the way is a much better alternative to shipping them on a plane where the temperatures can vary by many degrees. I am NOT an activist for or against any of these sites or dealers- just trying to find the truth in the middle of a lot of inaccurate information. I think the MILLS have much more reason to convince you to buy ONLINE and have it shipped - while Perfect Pets REFUSES to ship them this way. I think I have to agree with them. Thanx.

I just ran across a Perfect Pets demo in the Avenues Mall in Jacksonville, Fl this weekend. I was tempted to buy but knew from past experience in other areas to CHECK THE NET FIRST. I have spent about 3 hours now checking one site after another - THEN, I watched the series of videos done by the Vet from ASGV. What he said made perfect sense. He seemed to be very concerned about the welfare of these gliders and offered both pros and cons - especially regarding the males doing scent marking - something that was not mentioned at the mall - but then, I did not ask. They would not allow you to view the babies unless you wanted to buy one - which is exactly what the vet said = it would be too upsetting to them. The adults they had with them were very friendly and very comfortable with their handlers - jumping great distances to get back to them when called. They were not the sick, dying pets described by some web sites. IF I descide to go back before they leave, I will ask for credentials and ask if males are neutered - as the vet said they should be (at least by better dealers). I think I am now sure that Perfect Pets of Florida - is a legit business and I would feel comfortable in buying from them. I found other companies by similar names out there and I don't think PP of Fl. is one of the "mills". I pray not. I 'll just have to trust my feelings.

I'm glad they are doing well. The cases only stay on for 36 months, but they currently have 15 cases! Thanks for the comment.

I've had a couple of pets I purchased from Pocket pets a couple of years ago. They seem to be doing fine. I clicked on the link of those 13 cases filed against them and all of them are resolved. I

I cannot believe all the nonsence you people are writting. I have 2 sugargliders and have had them for 2 years now. I got them from Perfect Pocket Pets and have had absolutly no problems with them. Their health is fine they are a facinating addition to our family and get along with the family dog, the grandkids and my elderly mother who has alzhiemers. They just like other pets or even children need some special attension to aclimate them to your home. Not every person is able to do this and if you are one of those people then don't buy them but don't try to tell others what they should or shouldn't have. If you want to do that perhaps your first goal should be some kind of test for becoming a parent or pet owner. Because there are many regular (traditional) pets and children out there being miscared for also. My little guys (Spike & Gizmo) bring smiles to anyone's face that they meet. They come camping with us in our RV and have met lots of people, I agree they aren't for everyone but then nothing is. To say that the people from PPP don't care for the babies they sell is eroneous they send you many weeks worth of e-mails on caring for your new babies before you even get them, and are always there for you if you have a problem. I'm guessing the people who had sad results with ownership probably didn't recognize a problem in a timely fashon or just weren't ready to be parents to something that tiny and untraditional. If you really care find families that have sugar babies that have had a good experience, I'm willing to bet there are a lot more of those than the 13 cases sited at the begining of this site.

I am just overwhelmed by the business dealings of the greedyness for money, Its a terrible to think and to know that these people dont care about these little creatures that god created and there main interest is only money.I first learned about these furry little ones from PPP at a state fair and I was lied to about everything, housing, diet, health etc..I did not buy one from them that day but I did go on line and reasearched about them before I owned them, people need to stop breeding them and save the lives of one that has been rescued because PPP wanted more money and had to lie to get it,god will deal with him and others involved with the fast talking liar.just pray that it all syops one day and save the ones you can.

Debra,

Did you read that on Wikipedia? "As of March 2009, they are legal to own as domestic house pets in the U.S.A in 46 of the 50 states"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Glider

This website has a list of states and their laws. I believe the website is a bit out of date, but I see states making it legal to own Sugar Gliders as far back as 1998.
http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugarglider/stateres.html

The problem with pet stores is greed. Many dogs and cats are found dead from lack of food, water and proper care also.

As far as becoming overrun with Sugar Gliders. I was told by Perfect Pocket Pets that all the male Sugar Gliders are neutered before being sold.

According to what I just read,it wasn't legal to own a glider in this country until March 2009.And there are still four states that won't allow it. So how can this comp. been legally selling gliders for 15 years? With the help of PETA a exoitic animal comp. has just been shut down in Texas. Many sm. reptiles, birds, rodents and gliders were found dead from lack of food and water and proper care. Perhaps Peta could help get this "PerfectPocketPets" shut down as well.Haven't we learned from Florida's problems with snakes and lizards being allowed as pets, now being overrun with them. All now being hunted down and killed.
